Minimize the Impact of Showing Your Overland Park Home with
Pets.
You’re ready to list your Overland Park home for sale. You’ve decluttered, cleaned & staged your
home. Now, you’ve got the furry love ones at home. What do you do?? You should pay special attention to them as
well, both for their safety & the comfort for your potential Overland Park home
buyers. Those of us who have pets consider
them as part of the family. Unfortunately,
many buyers will consider them a concern plus a potential turnoff. Why? The buyer could be concerned with the
potential odor, mess, allergies, and they could be fearful of the animal. Most
would think that people are fearful of large dogs only but that’s not always the
case. As an Overland Park
seller, you can do some things to reduce the concerns of many of the buyers. Here are a few tips:
- Vacuum
the entire home & furniture to remove all pet hair. It’s best to
vacuum regularly if not daily.
- Clean
the area on walls and baseboards where pet lay against.
- Clean all
carpets to remove pet odor, even deodorize.
- Are
you pets crate trained? If so, you might consider having them contained
during the showing. Or at least restrict them to the backyard, in the
utility room or garage.
- Clean
all litter boxes & dog messes from the yard. Otherwise it can be a
turn off to many buyers.
- Keep
the pet’s food bowls extra clean.
- Repair
any damage from the pets prior to putting the home on the market. Ex: chewed doors, scratched molding, shredded
wallpaper etc.
- Put up
notes, where pets are located. So
that it isn’t a surprise to all - including the pet.
These tips will help minimize the impact on showing
your Overland Park
home. Giving the buyer an opportunity to see your home in its best light. If you are needing help in staging your home, let us know. We are accredited home stagers!
