PMI is the insuring fee for those Kansas City home buyers with less than 20% down payment. The tax break is for all home buyers including Kansas City families that have adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less. Home buyers in Overland Park had thought that PMI was unnecessary because the 80/20 or 100% loans. The buyers didn't feel it was worthwhile paying the PMI fee unless it was also tax deductible. Now they have their wish for 3 more years!!
