With all the news on network TV talking about how bad the real estate world is, that’s not the case here in Kansas City. Our real estate market in Kansas City is moving, but not at record levels.  That’s normal for Kansas City.  We don’t see the major up and down swings in the market as many areas of the country.  Our area tends to be more a steady market.  Yes, we’ve have the movements just not as severe. Last weekend the Kansas City Parade of Homes had just finished, and it proved that people are out looking at the new trends in home building in Kansas City.  This year, it seems that many of the homebuyers in Kansas City are searching for a home that will provide a lifestyle not just a place to live.  They’re looking for a home that has amenities.

• Outdoor living:  They just don’t want a concrete slab for a patio.  They’re looking at professionally designed place to retreat to.  They like to have the patio that has the mini kitchen effect or outdoor fireplace.
• Upscale master suite: They like to come home to a luxurious master bath with the effects of a spa.  Use the whirlpool tub, extra space in the bath, and the tall cabinets in the bath.
• Home theater room:  Everyone loves a great movie!  With all the technology available, many want to have it at home.
• Of course, the energy efficiency affects: everyone is looking for ways to make their home energy efficient.  So the new dual or triple pane windows with the low e glass, newer appliances along with efficient heating and cooling systems, added insulation and more.
• Being close to the entertainment areas:  People are enjoying the amenities of Kansas City by visiting the Plaza, the Power and Light District and others.
• The open dining effects.  Where the kitchen & hearth room/great room are the focal point of the home.
