Overland Park annexation is one step closer to being approved
On Monday night, the City Council of Overland Park has approved the annexation of 15 square miles into their city limits is one step closer. The city council claimed that they can't stop development regardless of the annexation. It's based on sewers, which the city has no control of.
They predict that the population of south Johnson County will grow over 300% over the next 20+ years. SO development is necessary, they claim. The local residents are afraid that they won't gain any more services than they aleady have. Plus they moved out in South Johnson County to be in the rural area, not the city. Will the property values increase in the area as development moves south? Time will tell! All that is needed now is the approval from Johnson County. Overland Park continues to march further south!
